Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in the entire 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank to date. In February of 2020, she had closed 53 deals. The largest of these was a $350,000 investment in Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was the second child in the family of 10 children who was born in Edgewater. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied on free food deliveries from a local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father, one who would drink too much, and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed some drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in an Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was fluent in several classes during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
